(excerpt from Desaad's transcripts of THE GREAT HALL, wherein Lord Darkseid addresses the trespassers from Earth)
Darkseid: You dare trespass in the Great Hall of Apokolips? In the presence of Darkseid?"
Diana: I've heard of you. My mother would tell stories of you. Cautionary tales.
Darkseid: Of my greatness.
Diana: Of your madness.
Darkseid: Hmm.
<Darkseid watched them a moment, then gestures toward the head of Steppenwolf>
Darkseid: A great warrior, once lost to defeat, recently attempted to take your world in the name of Darkseid.
Diana: We defeated him.
Darkseid: Because he was foolish. You took his courage, and when he returned I took his head. In the name of Darkseid. Your world will fall...there is no hope. No tomorrow. Only...Darkseid."

“THE LIFE AND TIMES OF VANDAL SAVAGE” part two “BLOODLINES”
When Flash decides to end his “conversation” with Vandal Savage, he finds his speed neutralized. For Vandal has much experience with speedsters, knows their “Kryptonite” is a time-travel reagent called Suspendium, and is going to insist that Flash listen to absolutely everything he has to say...
Savage had fought bloody wars for millennia, exterminating humanity’s rivals so that his people would survive, until eventually he came to understand that immortality was not the greatest gift he received from the meteorite. No, the true gift was his blood. All of his children, and there were many, carried the most fantastic potential. The challenge, however, was unlocking it...
Flash Fact: a “spontaneous chromosomal combustion" can take place when a metagene is exposed to various forms of biostress – chemical, radioactive, etc. A potential catastrophe becomes the catalyst for "genetic change," resulting in metahuman abilities.
In a time veiled in legend known as the “Pytharian Age,” Savage, then known as Vandar Adg, ruled a kingdom. His cruelest son, Prince Gragothor Adg, was struck by lightning while harassing an alchemist. Yet he did not die. Instead, he gained impossible speed - which he used to sadistic ends... until he met one warrior who dared stand against him. A barbarian with the hand of a demon, could Claw the Unconquered end Gragothor’s reign of terror? And could Vandar learn how to bring out similar powers in his other children?
Meanwhile, in the present, Barry Allen must deal with the revelation.... that all metahumans, including himself, are descended from Vandal Savage!

For your crimes we retaliate...

Facing mounting pressure from member worlds of the United Planets, the Guardians of the Universe are left with no choice... but to ask for Guy’s resignation.
If in evil you engage...
Cackling from Kalanor, Despero’s plan to force his enemy from power by falsifying the forensic report on the Firefist is a success! But Guy Gardner still has the will to fight injustice, albeit now mixed with righteous anger. That makes him the perfect recruit for another Lantern Corps that’s more concerned with ensuring criminals get what they deserve than about civil rights...
Beware our wrath - Red Lantern’s rage!
Plus, John Stewart visits the human settlers on Mongul’s Warworld. They appear to be honest immigrants, assimilating to their new home’s culture and finding peace through superior firepower. Vampire Victor engages with Steel, as Vampire Flash grabs Superboy and races out of the building. The Eradicator follows. Vampire Harley, still singing to herself, attacks Henshaw. Wanting to spare the civilians in the bunker, he grabs her and flies her back out to the street.
Superboy would find himself 5 states away from Gotham before he could wrestle free; Vampire Flash, tapping into the newly-found BLOODFORCE, just may be faster than his Earth-1 counterpart. Facing him down, Superboy tries to get a handle on him but Flash is too fast: hundreds of punches land before Superboy can form a single thought.
Vampire Victor launches cables which connect to Steel's armor, engaging within a technovirus Steel has not seen before. Steel launches several shots from his bolt launcher, punching holes in Victor's body, but the Vampire persists. The technovirus shuts down Steel's onboard A.I., making him vulnerable...
Back on the street, Henshaw attacks with a flurry of heat vision and fists. Though her undead skin becomes scorched, Harley continues to laugh and sing. She pounces on Henshaw, finding that this Cyborg Superman does indeed have flesh around his neck...and if there is flesh, there must be blood! She sinks her teeth deep into Henshaw's neck, both sucking his blood as well as injecting the vampiric poison into his Kryptonian system...

THE QUESTION #7

Writer MARK RUSSELL
Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
“What Are Little Girls Made Of?”
Merry, the Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks, has a mission she needs Vic’s help for. Hub City International Airport has an international designation due to a handful of international flights a week. These are cargo flights only and although everything about them screams smuggling, nothing has been done about it. Quelle surprise! Merry wants Vic to spread word of the human trafficking going out of Hub City and wants the Question to help her kick some ass and stop that trafficking.
What Vic (and Merry) don’t know is that Vicki Vale is also undercover and riding with some of these women being shipped off to the generally unpleasant Caribbean island of Santa Prisca. Hub City has a reputation for being a place where a woman of few morals and less self-esteem can make a few bucks selling herself and the supply of victims seems endless. Can Vic, Vicki, and Merry put a dent in this monumental evil?
By the way, Vic did hurl last issue and Vic’s identity was revealed to Merry. Vic also discovered through the comicbook heroes code that Merry is actually Merry Pemberton, an heiress to the Pemberton Industries fortune.
Meanwhile, Tot is back at his apartment just in time to encounter environmental activism at Hub City University. Thinking Vic shouldn’t be the only hero in the bunch, he joins with Professor Jason Woodrue and the two teachers discuss plans over coffee and expensive liquor.

Mister Miracle can escape from a crippled space capsule shot into the sun (and he has), but after a day and a half on Twitter, he's locked himself out of his account. At least his Instagram is still working – but that turns out to be a mixed blessing when he accidentally posts some B&D photos taken with wife Big Barda. It's damage control time for his PR gurus, Candace Baptiste and Ira Zlotnik. So where are they? Oh. Kidnapped by Darkseid's bestial son Kalibak. Well, this is at least a familiar situation for Scott and Barda, if not for Candace and Ira. Social media is hard, but superheroics they know how to do.
And an unfamiliar situation unfolds for Hollywood director Austin Butler, as a mysterious figure intrudes into the prep for his upcoming comic book blockbuster Rise of the Night Ranger: Godfrey Gloriana, an “associate” of star/producer Kyle Mason, is suddenly everywhere, putting his very strange stamp on the casting, the production design, even the screenplay. More amazing yet, he's infiltrating his own people from Kyle's damned Apokoliptist religion into the crew. What's next? An Executive Producer credit?
