With cases spreading exponentially, advanced detection and isolation methods are required.
•To fight the virus in America, the SOCIAL DISTANCE WARRIORS are on the case. Dressed as Plague Doctors, the SDWs tag people with miniature force field generators to keep them as far apart as possible. This is the coldest year on record: -50 °C and still falling, and this is where Scott and Jean fall into the midst of a blizzard. Jean's telekinetic field blocks out the worst of the cold while she pyrokinetically warms herself and Scott, her telepathy reaching out to find the nearest life... which is oddly all around them even in the bleak midwinter. •Polaron beams from orbit blast the arctic tundra outside Aujuittuq in northern Canada, disintegrating a large section of the place that never thaws. Once excess radiation dissipated, the alien DEATHBIRDS OF PREY teleported down via warp-wave, and two Shi'ar Death Commandos led their human mutant-Shi'ar hybrid slaves to confirm the destruction of the threat predicted by royal priests.
•Polarons don't behave quite the same way near absolute zero, and are easily deflected. The locals called him ᐊᐃᔅᒪᓐ but CYCLOPS & PHOENIX realized he was an errant ice golem created by ICEMAN which thought it was the real thing. Its attempts to convert its sentient ice to flesh failed, and it realized the truth thanks to Jean's telepathy. In its last moments, it sacrificed itself to save the pair and their unborn child, and the lovers won't let its death be in vain. They would hunt their hunters!
•Cyclops couldn't help thinking haemopyric ADAM-X looked oddly familiar once the young man and teleporting surfer SLIPSTREAM lay unconscious on the snow.
•Reactive adapter LIFEGUARD's telepathic defenses were difficult but Phoenix broke through, sending the woman to sleep.
•With the fodder dealt with, Cyclops faced winged DEATHBIRD in bloody combat while Phoenix was shocked as KORVUS knelt and offered her his Phoenix Blade. She had felt this power before when the cosmic entity put her back in her proper body after a disastrous encounter with a demon-mutant. The fraction of a sliver of the Phoenix Force within the sword offered its aid in protecting her family. Will Jean accept it?

•Jean considers using her new PHOENIX FORCE enhancements to empower the psi-shields she's erected around her frieds' minds and in her psychokinetic combat with SINISTRA but she remembers the cosmic firebird's warning: even those born to fire can burn.

It knew the so-called heroes of this era would defeat Ultron before he could eradicate humanity, so it focused on eradicating one very specific type of human.
•It liberated its prototype predecessor OMEGA SENTINEL from the deepest, darkest Trask Skunk Works. It plucked the hyper-advanced Adam and Eve designated SANGRE and CADENA from a relativistic evolution commune in South America before mutant terrorists destroyed the facility.
•It is BASTION, the most advanced Sentinel ever created, and its focus shifts from CYCLOPS & PHOENIX to the X-Men's fight against the Marauders in Alaska. STORM, WOLVERINE, NIGHTCRAWLER, and X-23 were joined by mutant terrorists from Bastion's future designated CABLE and ASKANI, and Bastion knows how to kill two birds with one plasma grenade.

•BASTION has crossed centuries to end the threat posed by CABLE and ASKANI to the dominion of artificial intelligence over all life on Earth. He could have simply negated their mutant powers along with the assembled X-Men but he wanted them beaten by the machines' superiority.
•WOLVERINE and Ashen Knight X-23 were easily encapsulated in Child of the Vault SANGRE's hydrospheres, drowning being one of the few ways to kill such hyper-regeneratives. Plus it's very difficult to snikt your way out of water.
•STORM was fighting dirty with acid rain and ionospheric plasma in her lightning round against CADENA but the Child of the Vault's shields weathered the storm. Could Storm weather Cadena's vice grip on her throat?
•Ebon Knight NIGHTCRAWLER and OMEGA SENTINEL played teleportation tag for a bit before she found a pattern in Kurt's bamfs, and the furry elf might just materialize with her fist in his chest.
•Bastion himself took on the X-Twins, progeny of CYCLOPS & PHOENIX. He easily resisted Askani's flames and Cable's technopathic invasions. They were so young, not yet in command of their full power, and Bastion would end them before they reached it.
•For the second time tonight, the Alaskan night was wracked by the death scream of Bone King BANSHEE! More organic than techno, the Children of the Vault fell, freeing the Howletts and Storm. More techno than organic, Bastion and Omega Sentinel survived, and now that the surviving Outer Sphere arrived, it was time to negate mutant powers.
•Some of the mutants present, however, called upon more than just the power of their x-genes. Banshee sang his death scream, Ashen Queen LADY KWANNON commanded her X-Rings, and Jean Grey blazed with the sliver of Phoenix Force merged with her soul!
•Omega Sentinel and Kwannon almost destroyed each other but Bastion withstands the flames of the Phoenix and nanite-disrupting pulse blasts from everyone else armed with Cable's seemingly inexhaustible extradimensional weapons cache. A suicide run by Cyclops planted and detonated a tactical Kirbionic warhead on Bastion, shunting both of their consciousnesses randomly through the timestream!
•In a silence broken only by Jean's cries, two luminous beings descend. The future was saved. This Cable and Askani are the avatars of previously warring machine and mutant, the eternal embodiments of the Dominion Singularity and the Phoenix Force. After sending their younger selves back to a brighter version of the near future, they incinerated Bastion's body, and take their mother and the body of their father beyond what man or mutant or machine may know.
